25 Years: Celebrating Collaboration in Quality, Safety, and Education in Nursing April 19, 2013





Melinda Hermanns is the Spring 2013 Research Award Recipient. Dr. Hermanns' award was announced in December. Her research proposal is "The Experience of Living with Parkinson’s Disease Using Photovoice."


Iota Nu Chapter is offering its members 2 research awards at $500 each semester (total of $2000)
Deadlines: November first Monday (fall);  March first Monday (spring)

Also, Beginning in spring 2013, Iota Nu Chapter will sponsor online posters competitions at the chapter website.  Chapter members may posters describing completed projects in two categories:  Research and Clinical Practice Projects.  Winners in each category will be awarded $250. See Awards tab: Research awards: Online poster presentations



Clinical Practice Project

  • Only completed projects are eligible
  • Poster presentation with the following elements
    • Presenter  name(s)  and contact information
    • Statement of the problem
    • Evidence supporting the change
    • Description of the project and implementation
    • Outcomes
    • Recommendations

Research Project

  • Only completed studies are eligible
  • Poster presentation with the following elements
    • Presenter name(s) and contact information
    • Problem statement
    • Literature summary
    • Description of the study
      • Subjects
      • Intervention (if applicable)
      • Design and implementation
    • Results, conclusions, recommendations

Submission deadline for spring competition:  March 15
Poster viewing and ratings:  March 15-31

Our Chapter will celebrate 25 years in 2013. We are planning a special celebration April 19, 2013.  There is a reason Sigma Theta Tau International Recognized us with a Regional Chapter Excellence Award in 2006 and 2008 and with Key Chapter Status in 2007, 2009, and 2011. We invite you to come and experience all that Sigma Theta Tau and Iota Nu have to offer and we challenge you to take part in some of these exciting activities!
